Behind the Story

For as long as I can remember I've been a Rocky fan. Well really a Stallone fan, but it all started with Rocky. One day I posted on Facebook images of films that inspired me. I posted an image of Creed, a spinoff of the Rocky franchise. This got the attention of a distant relative that lives in Las Vegas. He contacted me right away knowing I am a screenwriter/filmmaker. He informed me that he and his writing partner were working on a Rocky teleplay that showcased the story's beginning. He wanted to send me the pilot to revise and potentially be a part of. I was intrigued.

The samples were sent and I set up a revision. A week or so later a call was set up so I could meet the other writer and the future of the project. On the call, I was told the whole story not just for season one but for other seasons as well. This was well thought out. It was in a great direction. The only issue is that the other writer was really looking into doing an outline and selling the idea to a big Hollywood producer. This is something that I am not familiar with since I am an independent filmmaker and have produced my own work. Again, very intriguing procedure. I gave the pair some helpful tips on continuing the outline process and suggested they write the whole thing since they really didn't have a name in the business plus it would be a fun learning process. That's what excites me anyways. I really enjoyed the direction and hope for the best.
